What is a Surgical Assistant?
A Surgical Assistant is a surgically skilled medical professional specifically trained to assist in surgical procedures to help ensure the safety and the best possible outcome for the patient. Assistants offer hands-on assistance to the surgeon during the procedure, such as suturing, graft preparation, retraction, etc. Having those extra set of expert hands in the operating room means that you are getting the best possible care as well as reducing the time you are under anesthesia.
Who determines if an Assistant is utilized?
Your surgeon determined that an Assistant was medically necessary based upon the type of procedure or your past medical history for your safety and well-being. The American College of Surgeons (ACS) determined that assistant surgeon services are required for the successful completion of certain surgical procedures that have been identified as sufficiently complex or intensive.

What Insurances do you accept?
ASA accepts several of the major insurance carriers and health plans. If you have a question on insurance please feel free to contact our office at (832) 932-5787. If we are not in network with your carrier then we will bill as an out of network provider.
What payments are patients responsible for?
ASA will bill for surgical services rendered and the patient is responsible for all In-Network allowable fees not covered by their Insurance. If ASA bills as an Out-of-Network provider the patient my be billed directly for services given the Insurance will not process our claim. Here at ASA (We Do Not Balance Bill the Patient).
